Neighbors United for Democracy

We are neighbors in a community in the Richmond Virginia area, united to protect our democracy and support one another.

Our Mission

We stand united for our country with its individual liberties, separation of powers, checks and balances, rule of law, and free and fair elections. We resist attempts to undermine our democracy.

Community Support

We are neighbors helping neighbors stay brave, informed, and connected. We support local charities, businesses, and people in need. We encourage involvement in other organized local activist groups such as RVA Indivisible.

Yard Signs

We suggest the use of visible symbols of unity against threats to our democracy. We invite you to use this pdf file to create your own yard signs, t-shirts, magnets, etc! The image is copyright-free.

Neighborhood Groups

We encourage the formation of small local neighborhood groups to meet regularly and resist our country's slide toward authoritarianism.

What We Do

Neighbors meet regularly to support one another and reinforce our collective power and responsibility during this pivotal time in history. We share information on upcoming events, meetings, peaceful protests, and actions that help protect our democracy against authoritarian threats from within our own government. We encourage each other to increase our personal involvement.

What You Can Do

Form a group yourself, in your own neighborhood! Talk to your neighbors. Agree to meet regularly and discuss what is happening in our country. Talk about and commit to actions you can take to help resist the slide toward authoritarianism. Share ideas! Attend or watch pro-democracy events together! Resist the urge to tune out! Get connected and stay active! Even small steps add up.

Put up "Neighbors United for Democracy" signs in your yard and neighborhood!

How Do I Form a Group?

First, if you already know people who hate what is happening in our country, talk to them. Tell them you'd like to have a meeting to discuss and strategize how to respond.

Ask your friends and family if they know anyone else who might be interested in meeting.

When chatting with neighbors, mention how upset you are about the current state of affairs. Be honest! Listen to their response. If it is clear that they feel the same way you do, ask if they'd be interested to get together in a small group to talk more about it.

At initial meetings, discuss the rise of authoritarianism in America. Watching the following INDIVISIBLE.org videos from 2025 together is a great way to start:

Finally, commit your group to meet regularly. Help each other to stay active in upholding our democracy.
